You've just moved to Farethere City!

Why? Well, you don't seem to want to dwell on it too hard. You certainly remember who you are and where you're from - it's not as though you have amnesia or anything like that, of course not. You just don't really want to think about the events immediately leading up to your moving here for some reason.

That's not important anyway. What matters is that you've just moved in to a new town! It seems like there are a lot of other people besides you moving in today, too. There's a giant 'Welcome to Farethere City' banner hung up between two trees, and there's all kinds of food and drink on tables underneath, including plenty you've probably never seen before.

Now's a good chance to meet your neighbors and get yourself situated. Wander around town a little - check out the library, or figure out what on earth those mushroom-shaped doors at the far end of town are for. Or just pig out on the food - you did just unpack all your stuff today, no one will blame you for taking the chance to relax.

(Don't think too hard about the unboxing process. Or why there might be some things in your house that you don't remember buying.)

Your mayor is floating about greeting people. You'll properly get to meet him at some point, so be sure to ask him all the questions you have about your new home.

[It may be because of unpacking after the move, it may be because of all the excitement, and it may simply be that he's a lazy cat, but Simir is very tired. After eating his fill, the golden tabby falls asleep in the grass at the edge of the party.

Unfortunately, his catnap is interrupted by someone standing in just the wrong place. He opens one eye to peer up at the culprit, albeit in good humor.]

Pardon me, friend, but you're blocking the sun.

['Standing' may not be the right word since Michibiki has no legs, but he's floating in the way.]

Aaa, forgive me. [And he floats a little to one side.] Is that any better?

[He gives a bit of a stretch in the renewed sunlight and sighs.]

Very much so. Thank you.

Pleasant little gathering, isn't it? Excellent food.

I thought so! Garuru went all out with the cakes, especially.

[The local baker, a fairly intimidating lizard if you don't know him.]

It's nice to see the newcomers feeling welcomed.

The cook, I presume? My compliments.

[His head tilts slightly in curiosity.] Have you lived here a while, then? I should hope it's usually this enjoyable.

Something like that. I'm the mayor, nice to meet you~

[He's been here as long as the place has been around.]

[Shoot. Well, it's kinda rude to address his new mayor from laying on the ground, right? He can at least sit up.]

You as well, Mayor. It is a lovely town.

[A light laugh.] All the residents here do their best~ And please just call me Michibiki, 'mayor' is so formal.

As you wish, Michibiki. How long have you been in office, if I may ask?

Oh--sorry.

[It's true that Eun didn't see him there, but, y'know. All apologetic, he moves what he hopes is out of the way.]

I can't blame you for enjoying the light. It's a beautiful day, isn't it?

[Oh, great. A dog. Simir will try to be polite as long as he doesn't try anything disgustingly affectionate.]

Quite.

Are you new in town as well? I doubt this celebration is only for me.

[Don't worry about Eun. He'll keep his paws to himself.]

Yes, I am. I heard from the mayor that several residents have moved in all at once, which is the occasion for the party. So, if we're going to be neighbors, it's nice to meet you. I'm Eun.

[purramedic]

Simir. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Eun. [For now, at least. But he isn't going to make an ordeal out of something that doesn't need to be. This is the time for relaxation, after all.]

Have you been around town at all? I didn't take many detours between my home and here.

[sacrifeyes]

I passed by the library and some of the shops, but I didn't stay long. It all seems very friendly, though. I got a peaceful, small-town feel everywhere I went.

[He wishes he could have taken some pictures.]

So what do you do, Simir? That seems to be the question of the day.

Yes, it is very peaceful.

I'm a healer. [More or less.] And yourself?

A photographer.

[Though, that's sort of out of the question now...]

I'm thinking of opening a gallery to sell some of my previous work.

[purramedic]

A... what now?

I didn't know cats needed the sun like plants do.

[But after speaking in a jesting tone, the lotus flower does move away some.]

[The tabby gives her a wry smile as he reclines back into the grass.]

Of course we do! Don't you know anything about cats?

I know cats think they need sunlight. But it's mighty comfy, isn't it?

[He chuckles a bit, amused by the teasing.]

I suppose you're right, though as long as I'm comfortable, it doesn't really matter to me one way or another.

That's right, just moved here. Though I spent the time fixin' up a bar instead of unpackin'. I'll hafta do that tomorrow.
